Rev. Cathe Evins, Senior Pastor

 

Rev. Cathe Evins was appointed to serve beginning in July 2017. Cathe was ordained an Elder in the Southwest TX Conference of the UMC in 2003 and has previously served Cedar Creek UMC and FUMC McAllen. She holds a Master of Divinity degree from Perkins School of Theology, Dallas, TX., a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from UT Pan American, McAllen, TX., and an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Clinton Community College, Plattsburgh, NY. She is married to Rev. Jerry Evins, who is appointed to First Methodist Schulenburg, TX. They have 3 grown children and a Standard Poodle. Cathe and Jerry enjoy music (especially Classic Rock) and being in Colorado with their Poodle, as well as keeping fit with gym workouts.

 

Rev. Ray Perales, Senior Associate Pastor

 

Pastor Ray has served First Methodist Church of Seguin since July 2019, having previously served congregations in Stockdale and Donna alongside his wife, Faly, who works as a case worker for the State of Texas.  They have five adult children (Carlos, Elisa, Briana, Tori, and Miguel) and three grandchildren (Callie, Luna, and Cash).  Their youngest, Miguel, attends Texas A&M at College Station, and the four older children have completed their education.  In addition, Ray and Faly have three dogs, Parker, Rio, and Clover, whom you may see from time to time at the church office working as an honorary staff member.  Aside from ministry, Pastor Ray enjoys woodworking, gaming, reading, martial arts, and most of all, time with his family.

Keith J. Robinson, Director of Music, Choir Director

 
Keith serves FUMC-Seguin as Director of Music and Adult Choir Director. He says, “Learning more about our relationship with God through music is a great gift. One that I feel very fortunate to share with our congregation; with children and adults alike.” In addition to his work at FUMC-Seguin, Keith also teaches for the Seguin School District, a position that allows him to encourage and nurture young students on their path to a lifetime of loving music.
Keith is a 1985 graduate of Texas A & I University – Kingsville, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. He has taught music from elementary ages through high school and performed as tubist in the Air Force Band of the West. He also served a year with VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America), in Oregon, overseeing the coordination of volunteer readers and young children. Keith is currently the tuba player for Hill Country Brass.Keith is married to Nelwyn and has a daughter, Jillian, who came to join their family from India at age two. He loves to laugh, sing and play the tuba – not necessarily all at the same time!
 

Scott Wilkinson, Seasons Music Director

 
Scott Wilkinson has been a musician basically all his life. From piano lessons at 6 to guitar to playing trumpet through high school, music has always been a part of life, especially church music. Scott was a music major at Houston Baptist University with a concentration in vocal performance. He began leading worship at 19 at several part-time church music positions in Victoria, Houston, Hallettsville and Yoakum. Leading worship is a passion for Scott. Leading God’s people in worship is not only a great honor and responsibility, it is also amazing to Scott that it is also so much fun! Scott and his wife, Nena have lived in Seguin since March of 2016 with their two dogs (Ziva and Elphie). They met back in college at Houston Baptist University and 28 years later, they were married in 2011. Together they have 5 children.

Michelle Finch,

Youth Director

Michelle Finch began working at First Methodist Church in March of 2022. starting as the Receptionist and taking on the additional role as Youth Director in July, 2023. She has been married to her husband Jarrett, for eight years now and together they have been blessed with two amazing children: Austin, who is five years old, and Audrey, who is three. Their household is further filled with the joyful chaos brought by their three dogs, Charlie, Julio, and Pumpkin, as well as their beloved feline companion, Wednesday.
In her free time Michelle enjoys spending time with her children, and serving in her community.
 

Veronica Miller, Children’s Ministry Director

   Ms. Veronica began working for First Methodist Church Seguin in the summer of 2018 through the Weekday school, as the Asst. Director. She held that position until transitioning to the role of Children’s Ministry Director in 2020. Ms. Veronica has trained and studied a variety of children’s developmental and teacher education classes. She is safe gathering certified and holds a non-expiring Directors license from the  Texas Health and Human Services Commission,  Child-Care Licensing Division.

With a Doctorate of Theology from Good Shepherd Bible College, Ms. Veronica enjoys working, teaching and reading Bible stories to the children of First Methodist Seguin.

 

Melissa DePalermo, Office Manager

 
Melissa has been serving the church since 1999. She oversees the church office, maintains membership records, and schedules the useage of the church facilities, to name just a few of her job areas. Melissa attended Angelo State University, is a Certified Church Secretary, and has been a member of First Methodist Church Seguin all her life.
 
Melissa and her husband Troy have three grown children, Colby, Kacey and Kaitlyn. They also look forward to welcoming their first grandchild in the summer of 2023. When not working, Melissa enjoys raising monarch butterflies and tending her butterfly garden

Bonnie Dixon, Church Treasurer

 

Bonnie has worked for the church since 2006.  Currently Bonnie is the Church Treasurer, and is

responsible for managing the finances of First Methodist Seguin.

 

Bonnie is a long time resident of Seguin (since the mid 1970’s).  She has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from TLU and a Master’s in Business Management from the University of the Incarnate Word.  

Bonnie is an avid walker.  Her hobbies include watching Chinese Drama TV, crossword puzzles and singing with the First Methodist Chancel Choir. Bonnie also volunteers at the Children’s Advocacy Center, and is a Care Team volunteer for the First Methodist Care Team.
