MUSIC MINISTRY

Music is alive at FUMC of Seguin! Come find your place with us, and share in growing closer to God through experiencing and sharing His generous gift of music. There are many ways to be musically active in our church community, so find something that appeals to you and come and share the JOY of knowing Christ through song and music!

“Come, let us sing with joy to the Lord; Let us shout aloud to the rock of our salvation” Psalm 95:1

Seasons Music Team – This group of talented musicians provides musical inspiration and leadership for our contemporary service called Seasons. Rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm and Sunday mornings at 8:30am in the Christian Life Center (CLC). Contact Sean Garrison for more information about how to become a part of this dynamic musical group.

7:30 Sunrise Choir – Guess when this group of singers meets! The 7:30 Sunrise Choir members lift their voices to God at our 8:00 Sunday morning services. They practice at 7:30 Sunday mornings in the Music Room, making this the perfect choice for those who aren’t able to make an extra trip for an evening rehearsal during the week. No audition required! Contact Keith Robinson for more information, or just show up and sing… at 7:30!

Chancel Choir – The Chancel Choir sings praises to God at our 10:30 Sunday morning services. This dedicated group of singers rehearses each Wednesday evening at 7:00 in the Music Room. The Chancel Choir sings a variety of cantatas and musical productions throughout the year, in addition to singing introits, anthems and prayer responses each week. Come be a part of the Chancel Choir. Contact Keith Robinson for more information about the Chancel Choir.

Children’s Music – Sunday school children from pre-kindergarden through 5th grade, experience God through music as part of their morning Sunday school hour. They learn traditional Sunday school songs, contemporary songs, and songs created just for them. For our 2 – 5 year olds, they too, learn traditional Sunday school songs, as well as songs about the world they are growing into; learning about the days of the week, seasons, colors, their bodies, and their God.

Instrumental and Vocal Solos – Soloists are always welcome to share their talents in worship. If you have a talent and a desire to share it in any of our services, contact Keith Robinson or Sean Garrison for ideas about how you might be able to help contribute to our worship services.

FROM THE DIRECTORS

It is my belief that music is a gift to us from God, which allows us to know his presence in a truly unique way. Music touches our intellect, it touches our emotions and it touches our very spirit. This gift can give us hope when we feel hopeless. It can remind us of a loved one, a special moment or an important time in our lives.
Music is a very powerful tool that helps to connect us to God as we worship Him. I encourage you to seek out a place in our church family where you can share this gift with others. For some that may mean joining our adult choir. For children, that could mean being part of Christ Choir. It may be that your opportunity to share this gift is in the fellowship of singing hymns from your church pew, or clapping and singing along at a Seasons! service. We welcome your participation!

The Lord will save me,
“Music is inspirational and moving to one’s spirit, and it has been since the ancient times. It is our desire as music ministers to use the medium of music to illustrate God’s glory. Without the works of our God and Savior there would be no music or no musician. Much like an entertaining sermon that speaks to the heart of the listener, music is our ministry. John Wesley wrote hymns to the popular music of his time, and all to the glory of God! We hope that Seasons’ music meets you with a sincere and reverent heart.”

“and we will play my music on stringed instruments all the days of our lives, at the house of the Lord. (Isaiah 38:20 ESV)”
“And David and all Israel were rejoicing before God with all their might, with song and lyres and harps and tambourines and cymbals and trumpets. (1 Chronicles 13:8 ESV)”
