DISCERNING THE WAY FORWARD

On July 26th our Church Council voted to form a committee, appointed by the Church Council Chair, to “Study the issue of church affiliation and guide our church to a conclusion”. The members of the committee are: Troy DePalermo (Chair), Tom Dodgen, Linda Fritz, Dolores Schwerdtfeger, Matthew Hisey, Judy Hyatt, Terry Webb, Robin Roark
The committee had an organizational meeting on Aug. 4th and voted unanimously to follow the Process of Discernment as set forth by our Annual Conference.
– The Process of Discernment is a required six-month process, with three Listening Sessions presided over by our District Superintendent.
– The committee has researched and compiled the content required by our Annual Conference in preparation for the Listening Sessions.
– Listening Sessions have been scheduled with our District Superintendent for November 7, December 15, and January 21. Each Listening Session will have a Q and A component. Please plan to attend one or more of these Listening Sessions.
– In February or March, there will be a Church Conference, with our District Superintendent presiding, to vote on whether to Disaffiliate or Not. All professing church members will be eligible to vote.
Please keep the Committee in your prayers. This Process does NOT mean our church is Disaffiliating. The congregation will decide the outcome in the vote at the end of the process of discernment.
