Disciple Bible Study – Our church offers the Disciple Bible Study Program each year for those interested in an in-depth study of the Bible. The following classes may be offered:
Disciple I – Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study – This 34-week study moves through the biblical story from Creation to the New Jerusalem. Small group discussions of Scripture based on careful study and preparation is required.
Disciple II – Into the Word, Into the World – This 32-week study of Genesis-Exodus and Luke-Acts teaches basic study skills for going deeper into Scripture. It links Bible study to witness and service in the world. This study calls for evaluating and reordering of life’s priorities in response to God’s call.
Disciple III – Remember Who You Are – This 32-week study of theProphets and Paul’s Letters identifies God’s people as a community of memory. It also sets the Prophets and Paul’s writings in historical and geographical context.
Disciple IV – Under the Tree of Life – In this 32-week study of the Writings (Old Testament books not in the Torah or the Prophets), theGospel of John and Revelation are studied. This study appeals to the senses and emotions through words, images, dance, and music. It taps into the power of Psalms with a "Psalm of the Week" and shows the distinctive character of the Gospel of John.
Jesus in the Gospels – This first study in the “Disciple Second Generation Series” builds on the foundations found in the Disciple Bible Studies. This 30-week study grounds participants solidly in the four Gospels and holds them accountable to the Jesus who emerges from them. It takes its approach by reading stories and accounts of what Jesus said and did in order to draw conclusions about who Jesus was.
Christian Believer – Christian Believer integrates Bible study and the teachings at the heart of Christianity. These doctrines and traditions are rooted in Scripture. The study concentrates on the classical doctrines of the Christian faith – those that emerged in early Christianity as it struggled to understand its Scripture and its experience of Jesus, and that have remained central to Christian teaching through the centuries. This 30-week study yokes doctrine with the Bible and helps those involved become more familiar with the Bible and what the church believes and teaches.
Short-term Bible Studies - At various times throughout the year, we offer 6-8 week studies for those who cannot commit to longer schedules. Many are video led followed by both home and group study. If you are looking for an evening, mid-week or morning study contact Rev. Patricia Jentsch by emailing revpsj@gmail.com or calling 830-379-4112 extension 207 or 830-560-0303.
