Responding to Hurricane Ike

There are several ways you can respond to Hurricane Ike.  First, you can provide either the items for or the money toward a flood bucket.  Flood buckets cost $45.00 each.  A flood bucket is a 5 gallon bucket filled with items such as bleach, scouring pads, towels, laundry detergent, disinfectant soap, work gloves, trash bags, etc.  To find out what exactly goes in a flood bucket, go to www.umcor.org.  The Southwest Texas Conference is accepting both flood buckets and donations toward flood buckets to be sent to the Texas Conference.  You may contribute to First United Methodist Church and indicate your directions on the memo line and the church will direct your donation appropriately.

You may also make a contribution to UMCOR for hurricane relief.  UMCOR always does an outstanding job of both short and long term relief.  Again, you may make a contribution to First UMC with UMCOR #3019695 and it will go to hurricane relief.

Adult Mission Trip

The last mission trip was an adult trip held  March 8-13 to the Galveston area.  We had made two trips to do Rita Recovery.  Now we will be going to help with cleanup from Ike. Five people attended this mission trip.

Future mission trip are being considered. Please check back for future updates on ways that you can serve.
